Good day to you on Human Rights Day.
The world seems to be filled with voices proclaiming and/or demanding their rights.
As born again believers, saved and set apart, we have relinquished our claim to our rights. Our rights have been replaced by privilege. A servant/slave has rights. A right to a daily wage. A right to be treated humanely. A child of God is in a position of privilege.
Paul describes well the transition which takes place when we receive Christ as our Lord and our Saviour. He says in Romans 8:15 & 17,
"The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “ Abba, Father.” Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."
David, the psalmist puts it this way: "They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights."(Psalm 36:8)
So, on this Human Rights Day, enjoy living in the privilege of being a child of God.
Blessings.
