Good morning to you.
Love is a hallmark of being a follower of Christ. Jesus said, "By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)
Looking at what Paul says about love, it is clear that in our own strength, we cannot love as we should. We need a helper.
Today is Ascension Day - a day set aside to remember that Christ ascended to be with the Father.
Jesus said, "But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you."
(John 16:7)
Not unexpectedly, Jesus was true to His word. Shortly after He ascended, Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. As followers of Christ we too have Holy Spirit, who is our helper.
Ah, there it is. We have a helper to to assist us to love as Paul says we should.
Let us continue to put 1 Corinthians 14:1 into practice. "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit"
