Good morning.
Today South Africa celebrates the Day of Reconciliation. However, the 1st Christmas ushered in the beginning of God's plan of reconciling man to Himself.
8 centuries before the 1st Christmas the prophet Isaiah said, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned." (Isaiah 9:2)
John, the disciple Jesus loved, said this, "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil."
(John 3:19)
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthuans 5:19, that 33 years after the 1st Christmas, God’s plan of reconciliation came to fruition. "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them."
It does not end there. It is the beginning for followers of Christ. We now have been entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:18, "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation".
Today, let's take time to thank God for His Day of Reconciliation. "While we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" (Romans 5:10)
Have a good day.
Blessings.
Mike and Daphne
