Good morning.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness" (Galatians 5:22)
I, Mike, like the way the Good News Translation puts it: "But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness".
Kindness is is produced in us, not for us, but for others. Perhaps that is why we speak of an "act" of kindness.
Jesus said, "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’" (Matthew 25:35-36)
I think of Peter and John on the way to the temple: "Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:6)
What about the good Samaritan in Luke 10?
Today as we go about life, we can intentionally show kindness to the lady at the till in the shop, the parking assistant, your neighbour, your wife/husband, your children, your mother and your father.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matthew 25:40)
Blessings.
Mike and Daphne
