Good morning.
The world appears to be out of control. So much violence, exploitation and anger. Just about every day we hear of incidents of GBV and people being attacked, even killed.
Did we say the world is out of control? The world us made up of countries, of communities, of people. That's us!
It's small wonder that Peter tells us "For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control;" (2 Peter 1:5-6)
If we are honest, most of us have suffered with the lack of self-control to a lesser or greater degree at some time or another. In the words of Mike's friend Paul. "Brothers (and sisters) this ought not to be!"
Beside the fact that self-control is part of the fruit of the Spirit, Paul tells us in Titus 2:11-12 that the grace of God teaches us self-control. "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age"
Peter reminds us that "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness."
(2 Peter 1:3, )
As we go about our lives, today, let's let His grace teach us self-control in every situation we face.
Blessings.
