Good morning.
The procession of the late Queen Elizabeth ll from Buckingham palace to Westminster yesterday at one stage was flanked by the flags of the countries making up the Commonwealth. The commentators mentioned that among the people who had come out in force to observe this moment in history, were many who traveled from other countries.
All of this got me (Mike) thinking. We belong to a greater community, the global church. There are Christians faithfully witnessing around the world, some in difficult and dangerous places. The global church can give us many reasons to be joyful and can encourage us to continue in our faith.
The communion of the saints extends around the world. When we get together in our Life Groups and church services imagine the cloud of witnesses joining us in praise and thanksgiving to God. We are part of a great and grand assembly of believers.
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us" (Hebrews 12:1)
Blessings.
Mike and Daphne
