Good morning.
"When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept."
(John 11:33-35)
Strange verses to highlight at the beginning of a new year. On the contrary. These verses show us that God "feels" with us.
What a portrait of compassion: a God who weeps, a God who cares, a God who loves. Jesus, though He knew the outcome, wept. He was deeply moved by the pain and hurt the sisters were experiencing. We serve this amazing God of the universe, the Creator of the heavens and earth, who weeps for us when we hurt.
I, Mike, am thankful for a Saviour who conquers death. I’m thankful for a God who walks with us daily. I’m thankful for a God who weeps when we are weeping.
I'm thankful for a God who also rejoices over us.
As we go into 2023, let us remember and be encouraged by the words of the prophet, Zephaniah: "The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)
Blessings.

Dear Mike, thank you so much for this post! 🙏🏻 On 2 January, when you posted this, my wife and I had to deal with the loss of our dearly loved dog after she had been with us for 13 years - the post was exactly what we needed at the time, helping to encourage and strengthen us through the day. What a timely word! God bless you!
