Good morning.
What comes to mind when you think of “eternal life”?For many the concept of “eternal life” is entirely focused on what happens after we die. This is an important dimension of eternal life with Christ.
Jesus talks of abundant life in John 10:10. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
So, here's the thing. Eternal life is all about life after death. We were all dead. Dead in sin. We experience “eternal life” from the very first moment we put our trust in Jesus. That’s why Jesus said: "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."
Eternal life is more than life after the death of our earthly bodies. It is about the quality of life available to us when we put their faith and trust in Jesus, when we accept Him as Lord and Saviour.
Jesus describes eternal life like this: "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3)
As we live our lives, as followers of Christ, we experience the tender heart of our Father who says: "Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord ’s hand double for all her sins." (Isaiah 40:1-2)
Blessings.
