Good morning.

More often than not our dry, desert times are of our own making. Somehow this makes it difficult for us to turn back to God.

Why is it that two thousand years after Jesus brought us the new covenant, we still so often view God as one with a vengeful look in His eye, ready to turn His back on us at our smallest slip-up?

The psalmist has this to say. "If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you."

(Psalm 130:3‭-‬4)

These verses tell us how we are to approach God: with holy fear, not that He will reject us, but in the knowledge that He forgives us. The power of our sin cannot separate us from Him.

And God provides an even greater miracle. He gives us the power to forgive. God’s great power of forgiveness, the reason we are to fear Him, is offered to us that we may give grace to others.

We thank our gracious Father for His gift of forgiveness. We praise Him for His love and compassion. We are able to approach Him boldly, grounded in the knowledge of His forgiveness.

Blessings.
