Good morning.
When we look at Peter's life we can learn much from him.
Notwithstanding his impulsiveness (John 13:8) Peter discovered that he, like us, need to be vigilant in remaining within our individual purpose that God has for us, because "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12)
Fulfilling God's purposes does not place us in a sort of cocoon where life happens effortlessly. For this reason we need a circle of trusted friends with whom we can be real and who are ready to help us through challenging times.
Jesus warns us that "the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
Peter counsels us: "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
James says this: "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you." (James 4:7-8)
As we live for God, remain vigilant, always knowing that He is with us.
Blessings.
Mike and Daphne
