Good morning.

The account of King David and Mephibosheth Saul's grandson, (2 Samuel 9) paints a wonderful picture of a follower of Christ.

• The King sought and reached out to Mephibosheth. (2 Samuel 9:1) This is what God did for each follower of Christ.

• Like Mephibosheth, we all have some defects, imperfections. In our own eyes, these stand out like a sore thumb when we come into the Kings presence. (2 Samuel 9:8)

• I, Mike, suspect that despite Mephibosheth's deformities, the King could see in Mephibosheth the features of his father, Jonathan, David's beloved friend. In the same way when the Father looks at us, He sees His son, Jesus, and not our deformities, our sins.

• An invitation to feast at the King's table is there for all. Our sin (deformities) do not bar us from the King's table. The deformity of our sin was dealt with by Christ on the cross.

• "And Mephibosheth ... always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet." (2 Samuel 9:13) For us followers of Christ John records these words: "Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” (Revelation 19:9)

So, in Paul's words, we "set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

(Colossians 3:2)

Have a super day, giving thanks to the Father for His generous love through His Son.

Blessings.

Mike and Daphne
