Good morning.
One of the hallmarks of the Christian church throughout the ages is generosity. When generosity is mentioned our tendency is to interpret it in financial or material terms.
Many folk are facing tough times; battling to make ends meet with the steep increase in the cost of living. So how can we as followers of Christ show generosity?
What God said to Abraham is true for us today: “I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing." (Genesis 12:2) This does not only relate to our material well-being.
Consider what Paul had to say to the church in Corinth. "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)
Did you get that? The gifts we have been given are not merely for our own benefit, but for the good of others as well.
We can be generous in showing love, in encouraging, in serving, in praying , in helping, etc.
"A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."
(Proverbs 11:25)
Blessings.
