With the latest development in the war in Ukraine, with Russia's mercenary forces turning on their master (Russia), I (Mike) am reminded the relevance of the phrase "beware of the enemy within".
"The enemy within" constantly looks for opportunities to attack followers of Christ. Peter writes, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (1 Peter 5:8)
Often temptations come our way from unexpected quarters, even from fellow followers of Christ. One of the ways we are able to withstand these subtle attacks from within is by knowing and using the Word of God. We are reminded that our offensive weapon is "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17)
Paul tells us that that we must be proactive in against the enemy within. "Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand." (Ephesians 6:13)
So, even as we enjoy the weekend, remain on guard.
Blessings.
Mike and Daphne
